Wowie, Scarlett went to Maui! (Hawaii Part 1)

Scarlett headed to Maui for a long-awaited vacation with Mimi, Papa Tig, Uncle Mark, Auntie Monica, Big Cousin Maya (4 1/2), and Baby Cousin Emma (7 months).

Aloha, Scarlett -- welcome to Hawaii!

We all stayed together in an amazing condo with a beautiful view. Scarlett tried her best to point out the view from our lanai to her Daddy, who is instead chose to focus on his nap.

Bathing beauties.

Chillin' in the cabana.

If Scarlett sees shoes laying around, she'll usually pick them up, take them to their rightful owner, and try to put them on his or her feet. I guess my gold flip flops were too much to resist, and she decided to try them out for herself (with some help from Papa Tig).

Posing with Papa Tig on the lanai.

Poor Scarlett started to get sick the day we went up the coast to check out the old whaling town of Lahaina. She either had a touch of a bug or a bit too much fun in the sun, and was under the weather for a couple of days.

Feeling like la-hiney in Lahaina.

Silly Maya.

Rockin' in Rockport

Scarlett headed down to the Texas coast the first weekend in June for the annual Schwegmann gathering in Rockport.

Rocking on the patio.

Testing the waters.

Strolling on the beach perfectly in step with her Daddy.

Crabbing with her cousins. (Looks like Scarlett forgot her net.)

Watching Grandpa feed the seagulls.

Heading out on the pier -- it's fishing time!

Scarlett's first fish! (You should have seen the one that got away.)

Symphony Under the Stars

The Dallas Symphony held it's third-annual outdoor concert at Kidd Springs Park, and we joined the Jones family for some classical music and lounging in the 'hood.

Dana hooked Scarlett up with a glow-in-the dark necklace (armlace?) while we waited for the show to begin.

Once everyone was distracted by the music, Scarlett attempted to help herself to a tasty beverage from a stranger's ice chest. Nice try, Scarlett.

When that didn't work out, she absconded with another kid's balloon animal (that looked a lot like a particular downtrodden wiener dog I know) and promptly popped it on the grass. Oops.

When all else fails, dance!

Summer is here!

Scarlett kicked off Summer 2011 at the pool over Memorial Day Weekend. She was immediately a fan of the kiddie pool and happily splashed and played. (Note the tongue in the second picture.)

Her first dip in the big pool, on the other hand, didn't go so well. I stood on the edge and handed her over to Chris who immediately immersed her up to her shoulders. I think the shock of the cold water -- which is much colder than the shallow kiddie pool -- threw her off. Squawks ensued. We gave up and tried again a few days later, this time easing her in slowly, and that did the trick.

Waving to Daddy as we inched our way into the big pool from the stairs.

Scarlett loved watching the holiday weekend festivities. Here she is trying to get in line with the big kids for the "biggest splash" contest. She seriously thought she was going to get to go off the diving board. She was mistaken. A few more squawks ensued.

Campbell lived up to her reputation and came in first place in the hula hoop contest. That girl can hula hoop like a champ. And here's Scarlett "hula hooping" (or, more accurately, "hula standing" with a bit of "hula walking").

What's better than one hula hoop? TWO hula hoops. Clearly.
