First Day of School 2014

Here are Scarlett and Max on their first day of school -- September 3, 2014.

Scarlett is in Pre-K 4 with Ms. Ruth and Ms. Marion.

Max is in Pre-K 2 with Ms. Neka and Ms. Janeth (mysteriously pronounced "Janet").

A quick hug before school, and they were ready to roll!

Scarlett and Stella's first pedicure

We celebrated Stella and Amy's birthdays with pedicures -- a first for Stella and Scarlett.  I found a place with child-sized pedicure chairs, and the girls acted like pros.

They got the royal treatment ... a good soak, foot scrub, trimming, massage with lotion, and of course painting (pink for Scarlett and purple for Scarlett, with flower art and jewels, of course).

Close up!

Park City Part 3

We took a day trip with Grandma, Paw, Mimi, and Papa Tig on the Heber Valley Railroad through Provo Canyon and along the shores of the Deer Creek Reservoir.

Ready to board!

After we rode for a bit, some dastardly train robbers boarded the train to look for gold.  They had on authentic looking old-timey western wear and guns, and insisted that we all put our hands up.

Sweet Max totally panicked.

I realize these two pictures are super-similar, but they both make me laugh every time I see them, so I decided to include them both.  Bless his heart.

It turned out the lady train robber was also a singer.  Here she is entertaining our train car.  Max still refused to make eye contact, just in case.

Silly Scarlett sporting Mommy's glasses.

Grandma and Mimi enjoying the view.

The kids took in the scenery, too.

Back at the house, it was hot tub time with Papa Tig!

Here's Michael proudly presenting Chris with the starting lineup for the World Champion San Antonio Spurs made entirely of Rainbow Loom rubber bands.  Michael is a die-hard Mavs fan, but (thanks to some brainwashing by Chris) has grown to respect the Spurs, and was able to get past the rivalry to create this set.  You may note that Chris is oddly wearing a tie in the mountains.  Coincidentally, he had a hearing in Salt Lake City for one of his cases while we were in Park City, so he drove to SLC for the day while we were on our train ride.  (And he won his hearing!)

Hiking at Guardsman's Pass on the "backside" of Deer Valley.

After a beautiful drive complete with breathtaking views and hairpin turns and an outdoor lunch at the Silver Fork Lodge, we hiked around Silver Lake.

Here's Scarlett pointing out a "shark!!!" in the lake.  (It was just a log.  The kids obviously had shark-on-the-brain after our shark encounters this summer.)

Good thing for these ducklings that there are not, in fact, any sharks in Silver Lake.

Finally, a good family shot!

On the drive back to the house, we spotted this guy (and his moose friend, not pictured) munching on some baby aspens.
