Sea Island, Georgia On My Mind (Part 1)

We recently returned from an amazing trip to Sea Island, Georgia, with BB, Grandma, and Paw.  Sea Island is part of a cluster of small islands at the southeastern tip of Georgia, known as the Golden Isles.  The grounds and buildings on Sea Island were breathtaking, including the historic Cloisters Hotel built in 1928, which is filled with plush furniture, old black and white photos, and great bars and restaurants.  The Beach Club housed several pools and restaurants and we even got to spy on two separate weddings there during our stay.  The spa was amazing and Paw and Chris report that the golf was terrific as well.  We all stayed together in a beautiful house, and since it was the beginning of the off-season and there were no crowds, it often felt like we were at our own private resort.

The first few days there were overcast and we even got rained on a bit, but that didn't keep us away from the beach.

Happy boy.

Beach stroll with Daddy.

Walking to the water with BB.  Much colder than the gulf!

Building sandcastle #1.

Chris napping in the drizzle.

Scarlett tried her hand at some of the old-school games they had available.  First up:  bocce ball!  (She cracked me up -- she actually has form!  Maybe she's secretly been hanging out with old Italian men on the weekends?)

Sizing up the court.

Ready to roll.

Go Scarlett go!

Next summer we'll have to go to Florida instead so she can hustle some retirees after she charms them with that smile.

Ping pong!  (Although it looks like she's really going for it in the photo, she would swing only after the ball had hit her in the chest or in the face.  Scarlett, you might want to stick to bocce ball.)

Horseshoes!  (We'll wait until she's three to let her try her hand at darts and skeet shooting.)

Running on the marina bridge with the beautiful Cloisters Hotel in the background.

Checking out some fountains.

Walking around the hotel with Grandma and BB.

Part 2 to follow.
